On Saturday, June 26, 2004 Alabama was honored and received by Arkansas Republican Governor Mike Huckabee, wife Janet and the First Family at the Governor’s Mansion in Little Rock, Arkansas. Alabama was invited by Governor Huckabee to receive the Arkansas Traveler’s Award given to people who pass through their great state, but leave an everlasting footprint. Following presentation of the award Alabama band members were treated to dinner at the mansion featuring down home Arkansas cooking. Alabama performed an impromptu piano version of “Old Flame”, for those in attendance, following the meal. That evening at the Alabama bands concert appearance at the Alltel Arena in Little Rock, Governor Huckabee, a musician himself, played bass guitar on the bands performance of “I’m in a Hurry”. |
